WORKSHOP: SOFT FOCUS TEST ON CANON 550D
While out shooting with the Canon 550D for the first time I tried experimenting with a soft focus net on the lens. I have edited some of the shots to the beautiful music of Jose Travieso. Tech Talk: It was a glorious autumn day with bright sunshine and I wanted shallow depth of field to blur the background. I took a polariser filter to act as a ND as well as increasing the saturation of the foliage displaying wonderful autumn colour. After shooting the footage I needed for the project I shot some test footage. I had also brought with me a piece of material cut from a pair of black tights with a rubber band to attach it – this would soften the image as well as reducing the exposure. The footing used here is with only the net attached to the front of the lens. Using both the net and polariser there was some ghosting due to relections.
